2003 Outstanding Member of the Year – Chip Keen

Chip has been a member of ASA-WA, on the state and national level since 1990.  With strong support from his wife Linda, they established and built a very successful auto repair business, Hansville Repair.  After 26 years, they sold their business and established Garage Operator, Inc., a computer operating system for mechanical shops.

Chip has held several positions of leadership in his ASA unit and is responsible for many accomplishments and growth of the local unit.  In addition, he has served several positions on the ASA-Washington board.

Chip and Linda have always supported ASA by attending association state and national events.

To show his dedication to ASA and his fellow members, Chip has taken time from a very busy schedule to assist members in need.  He often visits other shops to assist in business direction and consultation.

At one point Chip held 19 ASE certifications, including Master Auto Technician, Master Heavy Duty Truck Technician and Master Machinist.  He was also instrumental in establishing the small waste generator designation for businesses in his county.

With the assistance of Linda, they have earned many industry related awards.  Some of those awards are:

1990 to1995 –  NAPA’s ASE Technician of The Year from Seattle Distribution Center.
1997 -WIN (Waste Information Network) Environmental Achievement.
1998 -Governors Award for Outstanding Pollution Prevention.
1999 -Was presented award for Outstanding Achievement in Hazardous Waste management.

Chip has over 30 years devoted to the profession of automotive repair and is also very active in the Automotive After Market Industry Association.
